Last week I was on a call with a dozen other Virtual Assistants. I love this industry, and here’s one of the reasons why.
One of the VAs mentioned a cool tool that she uses called Boomerang for Gmail. You see, I switched to Gmail over a year ago and haven’t looked back. I definitely do not miss Outlook, although I missed the feature of sending an email later.
Have you ever responded to an email at 1:00 in the morning, but really didn’t want it to go out until 9:00? Do you really want people to know you have no life and answer emails in the middle of the night? Well, with Outlook this was easy to do…but I hadn’t found a tool for Gmail. And I’ll be honest, I really hadn’t looked either!
But then the fellow Virtual Assistant introduced Boomerang for Gmail. Along with the fact that I can schedule emails to go out later, it has a couple of other very cool features!
You know when you sign up for a teleseminar, and you immediately get the call-in details? Do you ever wonder if you’ll get a reminder before the call? And what happens if you don’t? You go searching through your emails (if you even remember you have the call) trying to find that email that you got a week ago with the call-in details on it, right? With the Boomerang app you can schedule the email to leave your inbox and come back to your inbox at a specified time, like an hour before the teleseminar. Who doesn’t like a clean inbox, too?
Another feature that I’ve fallen in love with is the ability to have an email come back in your inbox if you don’t get a response. I’m sure you’ve sent an email to somebody, needing a response, and they never reply. A week later, and a week closer to your deadline, you suddenly remember you never heard back from so and so and shoot off another email. How great would it be to “boomerang” your first sent email to come back in your inbox if they don’t reply within an hour, within two days, or within a week? You can send it and forget it because Boomerang will remind you of it!
I hope you’ve found this tool handy. If you’d like more information on it, click here. And if you’re not a Gmail user, no problem! Boomerang is available for Outlook, as well.
